United Surgical Partners International Company History

United Surgical Partners International, Inc. (USPI) owns and operates short stay surgical facilities, including surgery centers and private surgical hospitals in the United States and the United Kingdom. The Company focuses on providing surgical facilities that meet the needs of patients, physicians and payors. USPI acquires and develops its facilities through the formation of relationships with physicians and healthcare systems. During the year ended December 31, 2006, the Company operated 141 facilities, consisting of 138 in the United States and three in the United Kingdom. Of the 138 United States facilities, 78 are jointly owned with not-for-profit healthcare systems. At December 31, 2006, USPI held ownership interests in 139 of the facilities and operated the remaining two under management contracts. (Source: 10-K)
