What you will do:

Johnson Controls is seeking an Analyst to join our Water-Based Fire Suppression New Product Introduction (NPI) team at our R&D facility in Cranston, RI. At Cranston's R&D center our engineering teams are responsible for the design, development, and certification of fire protection products which aid in life safety and property loss mitigation.

The Mechanical Engineering Analyst will be responsible for providing expertise and technical leadership in applying numerical methods and algorithms to solve and analyze problems involving fluid flows, heat transfer, combustion, and multiphase flows in the field of fire and life safety. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

How you will do it:

  • Responsible for the development and application of computational fluid dynamics models for fire protection systems. Understand and optimize current products/systems. Knowledge of FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) a plus.

  • Working knowledge of the latest computational tools, such as Ansys Fluent/Mechanical and OpenFOAM, including pre-processing, simulation, and post-processing. Strong knowledge in modeling multiphase flows.

  • Self-directed; able to strategize on test plans without established protocols; strong on-time and quality project delivery

  • Able to apply fundamental engineering theories, mathematics, mechanics, and physical science concepts to the job.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, good written and oral communications skills, flexibility, and adaptability to changing situations.

  • Ability to write reports and convey detailed technical information.

  • High attention to detail and solid organizational skills.

What we look for


  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and 10-15 years' experience in computational fluid dynamics modeling.
