JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing psychological services on an outpatient basis. The position interfaces with patients, families, medical and paramedical staff and requires a highly motivated individual who is a team player and a skilled problem-solver.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions

Demonstrates commitment to the mission of Swedish Covenant Hospital and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the hospital.

Provide psychotherapy to individuals, groups, couples, and families. Must be able to provide services to adults and/or adolescent and children.

Provide ongoing staff education. Orient new staff as necessary.

Maintain effective working relationships with physicians and other hospital departments.
- Continue own professional education through attendance at professional education
meetings, conventions and courses outside the hospital, by reviewing current literature
and by attending hospital conferences, meetings and in-service training programs.

Recognizes needs and behaviors of a variety of disability, age and ethnic groups and is able to tailor interventions appropriately. Understands early developmental and aging processes.

QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: PhD / PsyD in Clinical Psychology
Skills: Professional skills as required by approved professional school/licensing
agency. Strong teaching skills. Organizational ability with good problem-
solving skills, sound judgement, excellent communication skills, highly motivated team player with strong ability to motivate others, creative with ability to facilitate and deal with change. Basic computer competence.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Current Illinois licensure.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS
This position has significant contact with other hospital personnel, patients, patient families, physicians, students, outside healthcare personnel as well as staff from professional schools.
ENVIRONMENT
Sitting: 75% Standing/Walking: 25%
No regular lifting, carrying or moving of objects.
Repetitive tasks include word-processing approximately 5-10% of the time.
Exposed to blood/body fluids and airborne disease during direct patient care.
