LinkUp Forecast: January 2026 JOLTS report by the BLS
The BLS recently reported 6.54 million job openings in their December JOLTS report. Read on for our advanced look at January numbers.
LinkUp’s JOLTS forecast for January is 6.55 million open jobs. This is a 0.1% increase in job openings from the recently restored job openings for December.
As a note, we continued to forecast JOLTs datapoints during the BLS data release outage. We will not be reforecasting as they were released after our forecast was released.
BLS releases all survey reports on monthly job openings and labor turnover a full month after-the-fact. The LinkUp job data consistently shows a strong correlation to the BLS numbers. We offer a significant advantage of being available a month before the official release.
We’ll continue to monitor and report on the developing state of the U.S. labor economy.
