LinkUp’s job listing data, collected daily and directly from company websites since 2007, can provide unprecedented insight into market trends at the industry, geographic, or company level. Because a listing indicates an intent to hire, tracking job listings can indicate strategic direction, growth, or financial health. While government sources of labor market trends are released on a lag, LinkUp’s job listing data always reflects the immediate labor landscape, maximizing the strategic impact of our alternative data.
Using LinkUp job listing data offered through Eagle Alpha’s platform, Bank of America analysts explored how aggregated job listings could shed light on sector, individual company, and stock performance, finding that most declining sector returns for a period of time in 2020 broadly align with declines observed in job listings for those sectors. And paired with sector returns, job listing growth may suggest the Materials sector was underpriced.
