Jobs data forecasts NFP numbers
Macro | Capital Markets | Academic Research
Every month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) releases its Non-Farm Payroll (NFP) numbers at 8:30 a.m. ET on the first Friday. These highly anticipated figures can move markets and shape economic narratives. But while the initial data often grabs headlines, the final story isn’t told until the BLS issues its subsequent revisions a month later.
LinkUp closes that gap by providing an early read on labor market trends. We release our own NFP forecasts before the BLS issues its official monthly report. By capturing hiring activity directly from millions of real-time job postings on employer websites, we often anticipate where NFP revisions will eventually land, giving businesses, analysts, and investors a more accurate, forward looking view of the US economy.
Above is a cumulative chart on NFP and our forecast numbers. From the chart we can gauge that LinkUp’s NFP forecast tracks closely with the revised NFP numbers
