Jobs Data By Industry (NAICS)
In July we’ve seen increased labor demand in almost every sector, as companies adjust to tariffs and focus on H2 goals.
General Merchandise saw the largest increase (+25.7k), a difference from last month when they were showing a decrease. Retail hiring typically ramps up in early fall to support the holiday season, so this increase may represent early holiday hiring, or an attempt to get back to normal levels after a downturn . Administration, Support, and Remediation saw a 9.8% increase in July, potentially indicating optimism for companies as they face persistent tariff uncertainty– or that they held off on posting the positions until they better understood the impact of tariffs.
Transportation and Warehousing (Truck/Rail/Air) are down -5.8% (3.6K), likely caused by tariffs continuing to slow down imports and exports.
