The LinkUp 10,000 is an analytic published daily and monthly that captures the total U.S. job openings from the 10,000 global employers in LinkUp’s jobs dataset with the most U.S. openings.

July 2026 saw the LinkUp 10,000 register 4.5 million job listings, up by 1.5% from June. The increase indicates that U.S. employers are expanding their total active listings even amid broader macroeconomic slowdowns and volatile “zig-zag” hiring conditions. Notably, job listings remained above July 2025 levels, marking a 13.3% year-over-year increase.

The Administrative and Support and Waste Management and Remediation Services sector saw an increase of 11.2k job openings in July 2026. This uptick was driven by a combination of strategic corporate restructuring, tech adoption, and mid-summer operational needs. Demand for specialized office and administrative support roles also rose by 2% month-over-month in July.

Closed Duration

Closed duration, or the average number of days job listings remain live on company websites before removal, tracks hiring velocity across the U.S. economy. As the average duration increases, hiring velocity slows.

In July, the closed duration rose to 47.1 days from 42.6 days in June, reflecting a more deliberate and selective approach to filling open positions.

During the month of July, 92% of the U.S. states saw an increase in job listings from June. The states that saw the largest increases: 

• Washington, D.C. (21.2%) 

• Puerto Rico (13.1%)

• Georgia (-2.1%) 

• Texas (-1.4%) 

• South Dakota (-0.7%)
