LinkUp Forecast: October JOLTS report by the BLS
As a result of the government shutdown, the BLS did not release their official September JOLTS report. LinkUp is still collecting job-listing data, so we will use our historical forecast model to estimate the missing JOLTS figure.
LinkUp’s JOLTS forecast for October is 7.13 million open jobs. This is a 0.9% decrease in job openings from our forecasted September number of 7.19 million.
As a note, if the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases a September JOLTS summary, we’ll re-forecast October using that published data point. We delayed this forecast for a week as we waited for more clarity on the next official report.
BLS releases all survey reports on monthly job openings and labor turnover a full month after-the-fact. The LinkUp job data consistently shows a strong correlation to the BLS numbers. We offer a significant advantage of being available a month before the official release.
We’ll continue to monitor and report on the developing state of the U.S. labor economy.
